What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery includes the surgical treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, teeth and jaws.
While our dentists will always use the least invasive treatment possible for a given dental problem, sometimes these less invasive treatment options are simply not enough and oral surgery may be required.
We understand that it can be intimidating to hear that you need oral surgery, but we can assure you that our dentists will do everything we can to keep you comfortable during your procedure.
Dental Implants
Our dentists may use implants as part of the process of restoring your smile if you are missing one or more teeth. During the procedure, your dentist will install a small titanium screw into your jawbone. This screw will act as a base for an eventual tooth replacement.
Teeth Extractions
While it's always better to save a natural tooth, sometimes that just isn't possible because a tooth is too badly damaged due to decay, gum disease or injury. If this is the case, the tooth may need to be removed to preserve your oral health.
Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is a procedure used to restore bone density in the jaw to support a dental implant or to repair damage caused by injury or disease. The process involves placing a graft material from the patient's own body to encourage new bone growth.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. If they come in incorrectly, they can cause all kinds of problems for your oral health, including overcrowding and pain. If this happens, they will need to be removed.
