What is a Bridge?
Dental bridges are designed to 'bridge' the gap left by missing teeth. They are custom-made to match your natural teeth helping give you an even looking, and functional smile.
Made up of one or more artificial teeth, dental bridges are bonded to dental crowns or your natural teeth to fill a gap left by missing teeth.
Bridges may be the ideal procedure to help make your mouth healthy and beautiful again. Dental bridges may also help prevent more serious dental issues including gum disease and misalignment by helping secure your jaw and bite.
The Bridge Procedure
Typically, two dental appointments are necessary when you're getting a dental bridge. First, your dentist will clean and re-contour your teeth. Then, they will take impressions and have those sent to a laboratory that will create your custom bridge.
Once your bridge is ready, your dentist will install it by permanently bonding it to your existing natural teeth, implants or crowns that have been placed for this purpose.
Why Dental Bridges May Be Used
When there's a gap where teeth are missing, the surrounding teeth may shift out of place over time. Bridges can help restore your smile and maintain the structure of your remaining natural teeth while looking and feeling natural.
Bridges can also help restore the natural contour of your teeth and the bite between your upper and lower teeth, helping you preserve your oral health.
